I always see Youtube videos promoting affiliate marketing and saying “you can easily make thousands of dollars per month”. How much realistically should you aim to make through affiliate marketing, as a beginner.

Well, to be realistic there are a lot of factors that affect just how much you can as an affiliate marketer. It’s like asking how much a business owner can make in a year. So let’s approach this by considering the average amount of money a full-time affiliate marketer makes in a year and take a look at some of the things affecting this value

From my sources, the average full-time affiliate marketer makes just under $13k dollars monthly. That adds up to about $156k a year. But obviously this depends on their traffic, conversions rate, commission rate, the product or service they are marketing and a whole host of other things.

Another source gave a more realistic estimate of $65k per year. So like I said, it varies widely.

              Hi Tim,

I have been making a passive income from affiliate marketing for a while now, my biggest tip when starting out, don’t listen to everything you hear. Most of YouTube is in a pyramid scheme in which they make their money by getting new affiliates to sign on rather than selling products or services through affiliate programs. In terms of how much you can make as a beginner, I think that depends on where you are starting from.

If you already have a Youtube channel or a large following on social media, making thousands from the beginning isn’t unrealistic. On the other hand, most people are starting from scratch. In this case, you need to build some sort of following on a platform.

In this case, you should focus more on building followers/ traffic rather than money/ commission. In my experience, I may be between $200 – $300 in my first few months of affiliate marketing.

This all depends on how good you are at converting the traffic. I have made a living from making money online for years, mainly through affiliate marketing. Some of my most successful websites have not had huge traffic but was the best website in its niches. If you pick the right niches you can make a good living out of affiliate marketing even as a beginner.
